Tottenham now eyeing summer swoop for 25-year-old free agent from Premier League rivals

Tottenham Hotspur are now looking to potentially make a move for a Premier League centre-back in the summer transfer window.

The north London club have already added to their options at the back since the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

Signing Micky van de Ven in the summer has proven to be one of the best additions made by Tottenham for a number of years.

The Dutchman has transformed Spurs’ backline and their ability to play a high line with his sensational pace providing an impressive recovery option.

Not only has Van de Ven been added, but Spurs replaced Eric Dier with the Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin.

However, due to the partnership formed between Van de Ven and Cristian Romero, the 22-year-old’s game time has been extremely limited.

But with European football looking likely for next season, Postecoglou is putting together a solid depth of options in each position.

And it seems he is now eyeing a defender already playing in the Premier League to become their fourth-choice centre-back.

Ange Postecoglou eyeing free agent signing in the summer from Premier League club

Ahead of the summer, The Spurs News have been informed Tottenham will be looking to address a number of positions in the upcoming window.

One position which the club are seemingly keen on strengthening is at centre-back with a number of players leaving in that position.

With Dier and Davinson Sanchez the two established players to move on in that position it has left options stretched at times this season.

Spurs did suffer somewhat of an injury crisis earlier in the season with Van de Ven showing he is susceptible to hamstring issues already this season.

So having a surplus of quality options could be crucial to Tottenham’s success next season with the club now expecting to play significantly more games.

And according to GiveMeSport, Spurs are eyeing a move for Luton Town centre-back Gabriel Osho who is set to become a free agent.

But it is not just Tottenham who are eyeing a potential move for the 25-year-old this summer with Fulham and Aston Villa also credited with an interest.

Osho is currently sidelined with injury himself, but the defender has played his part in Luton’s attempts to survive the drop this term.

The Spurs News understand Tottenham are also eyeing two other defensive free agents for the summer window.

Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo are two other names to keep an eye out for this summer with the pair expected to leave Bournemouth and Fulham, respectively, on a free.

Comparing the three defenders shows an interesting trend.

Signing a free agent as the fourth-choice centre-back looks to be the smart route for Spurs to take with Dragusin offering quality cover for the starting pair.

This, therefore, should leave money elsewhere for other additions.
