Dele Alli makes frustrating Tottenham transfer claim and reveals what stopped Spurs winning the league

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Dele Alli has now spoken out about how the club could have won the league during his time there.

The 28-year-old now finds himself at Everton but the Toffees are not playing the midfielder as he returns from injury.

Tottenham will now miss out on the £10m potential transfer fee after Dele did not hit the 20 appearance mark for Sean Dyche’s side.

It has been a difficult 12 months for the former England international who has revealed his off-field battles amid a season of recovery from surgery.

However, he remains one of the brightest talents to ever walk through the doors at Hotspur Way and played a huge role in the club’s recent history.

And he has recently been speaking about what held the club back from getting over the line to lift silverware during the Mauricio Pochettino era.

Dele Alli said there was one thing which held Tottenham back from winning the title

Daniel Levy has overseen a lot of change in recent years at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but perhaps one of the saddest ones for Spurs fans was seeing Dele leave.

On a footballing basis it was the correct decision with the Englishman struggling to rediscover his best form.

However, this was a player who had shown so much potential at Spurs and became a real fan favourite during his time as a Spurs player.

Playing alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Dele helped Spurs really mark themselves as one of the country’s best.

And the 28-year-old was a big part of the Pochettino era which came so close the lifting trophies on a number of occasions.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, the midfielder revealed what he and some of the other players felt the club needed just to get over the line.

“We felt as a team, players as and as manager we felt that we were just missing one more thing to really push us into title contenders every year,” he said.

To which Jamie Carragher replied: “Are you talking about a specific player or mentality?”

“Maybe a bit of both. We wanted to see the one more player come in who was going to really push us,” Dele added.

Staggering statistics which show Dele can revive his career

The Englishman’s contract at Goodison Park is set to expire over the coming months and what lies ahead of him is yet to be seen.

However, this is a player who lit up the Premier League for years and was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year award for doing so.

Here is a rundown of his time at Tottenham.

The talent this player has is still there, it’s impossible for him to have lost his ability and he clearly still has the drive.

He admitted on the show that he has the goal of playing for England in the 2026 World Cup.

Perhaps it is about finding the right environment now he has seemingly got himself back on track off the field and edges closer to a return from injury.
