'The worst team': Georginio Rutter says he absolutely hates playing against one Championship club

Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter has shared which Championship side he has least enjoyed playing against this season.

Rutter has had a brilliant campaign for the Whites and was rewarded with a place in the division’s team of the season last weekend, ahead of prolific Southampton attacker Adam Armstrong.

Armstrong has 33 goal contributions for the Saints this season, which is the most in the league. However, Rutter’s general play, in terms of dribbling and creativity, saw him get the nod.

With that said, Rutter’s form has certainly dropped off over the last month or two, having been struggling with a hernia issue that saw him undergo minor surgery over the international break.

A move back into the number nine role away from the chaos of a Championship midfield could actually stand him in good stead. The stats show he was actually more effective there.

Rutter names the Championship club he has hated facing this season

Due to the sheer amount of quality attacking talent at Leeds’ disposal, they have come up against so many sides happy to sit on the edge of their own box and defend deep.

Leeds have actually struggled to deal with those tactics at times this season, and have placed an over reliance on Rutter and Crysencio Summerville to create something from nothing.

But it has certainly not been easy for them, either. As per Who Scored, Rutter is the most fouled player per 90 minutes in the division, with Summerville in eighth.

And on the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, Rutter was asked which team he has least enjoyed coming up against this season, which was actually recorded just after the win over Hull City.

He said: “The worst team was Coventry. It was the most difficult game I played against because it is a team who are tight on the middle. You receive the ball and you have one guy behind you, on the right. It was hard.

“I am also going to say Southampton, but we didn’t do a good game so it was a bit difficult. They were tough as well.”

Rutter’s Coventry admission no surprise after two matches

It really is not much of a surprise to hear Rutter name Coventry as the side he has least enjoyed playing against this season.

The 22-year-old actually gave his answer before Leeds’ defeat at the Sky Blues two weeks ago, and so after his performance in that game, it was certainly justified.

In the game at Elland Road, Coventy were doing everything to knock Leeds’ biggest attacking threats out of their stride, certainly getting under the skin of Summerville.
