Two soldiers suspected in fatal shooting of Ukrainian police officer

The prosecutor's office is investigating the involvement of the military in the shooting of a policeman in Vinnytsia Oblast

Authorities have launched a criminal case under Article 348 of the Criminal Code, which addresses assaults on the lives of law enforcement officers.

The incident occurred overnight on April 20 near the village of Yalanets in the Haisyn district. According to preliminary reports, patrol officers stopped a vehicle for inspection around 1:40 a.m. During the stop, the car's occupants opened fire, resulting in the death of one police officer and injuries to another.

The police are actively seeking the perpetrators.

Media reports suggest that the suspects were wearing military uniforms and may have been members of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

However, the brigade promptly clarified that the wanted individuals were not associated with their unit. The Southern Operational Command further explained that the suspects had not been affiliated with the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade for over a year.
