Phil Foden says £75m Liverpool player is one of the best in Premier League history

Phil Foden has been building his all-time Premier League XI.

Speaking to Mail Sport on TikTok, the England star has chosen what he believes to be the best collection of players the Premier League has ever seen.

As you may imagine, there was plenty of bias towards Manchester City involved here as Foden picked the likes of Ederson, Kyle Walker and David Silva in his team.

However, putting his City bias to one side, Foden did choose one Liverpool player in his all-time XI.

Foden picked Virgil van Dijk to accompany Vincent Kompany at centre-half.

“Two centre-halves, Vincent Kompany and Van Dijk,” Foden said.

Virgil van Dijk may be the best centre-back in Premier League history

Even Foden couldn’t avoid picking Van Dijk here.

The Dutchman is undoubtedly one of the best centre-halves in the history of the Premier League, and, in all honesty, he might be the best.

Van Dijk is a rare player who has absolutely everything. Speed, strength, skill, vision and an incredible footballing brain.

Yes, there are other defenders in Premier League history who may have achieved more – such as John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, but as individual players it’s hard to say that they’re as complete as Van Dijk is.

Foden has had plenty of battles with the Liverpool star over the years, and he knows first-hand just how fantastic a player the Liverpool captain is.

Foden’s team also included the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry, while Ashley Cole got the nod at left-back to complete a truly fantastic back four.

Whether or not you agree that Van Dijk is the best centre-back in Premier League history is up for debate, but you can’t deny that he absolutely belongs in the conversation.
