'I hope': Mauricio Pochettino now hints whether Cole Palmer will play in Arsenal vs Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has given an injury update on Cole Palmer following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals yesterday.

Cole Palmer did not look too comfortable at one point in the first half and seemed to have picked up a knock.

The attacker was unable to score or assist against his former club at Wembley, but Chelsea will be desperate to have him for their Premier League tie versus Arsenal on Tuesday.

Palmer has been the team’s best player this season, coming up with 36 goal contributions in 39 appearances for the Blues.

While the 21-year-old was unable to add to that yesterday, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard still thought he was exceptional during the 90 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino gives Cole Palmer injury update ahead of Arsenal game

A tricky trip to the Emirates, Chelsea will need to be at their best if they are to beat Arsenal or take a point back to Stamford Bridge.

It means Pochettino‘s side will need Palmer, and thankfully for them it looks like they will have him.

Asked about the Englishman picking up a knock in the loss to City, Pochettino told football.london and other outlets: “It’s normal. He’s tired. But I don’t believe he has a problem.

“We need to check tomorrow but I hope there’s nothing more wrong than him being tired.”

Cole Palmer and Thiago Silva Chelsea’s two best players at Wembley

While Palmer did not manage to get his name on the scoresheet yesterday, he still had a pretty good game.

According to Sofascore, the England international made two key passes, the most in his team, as well as one big chance.

Thiago Silva, who was seen in tears at the end of the game, did not play too badly either. Also per Sofascore, the central defender made the most clearances at Wembley.

Silva may not be Chelsea’s skipper, but it was a real captain‘s performance. It would be a shame if he departs the club at the end of the season.
