Leicester City fans all say the same thing about Hamza Choudhury after West Brom

Leicester City returned to winning ways on Saturday, as they secured a close-fought 2-1 victory over playoff-hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

Enzo Maresca‘s side weren’t at their best yesterday but they took their moments, which has been a rarity over the last few weeks.

Wilfred Ndidi opened the scoring in the first half, following up the rebound to lash home into the roof of the net before Jamie Vardy added the crucial second not long after the hour mark, heading in Abdul Fatawu‘s delicious cross.

The visitors pulled one back through Jed Wallace but despite a late onslaught, Leicester stood up strong and Hamza Choudhury received glowing praise for his display.

Choudhury produced one of the best performances of his career yesterday, making multiple goal-line clearances.

Foxes fans were quick to post on X hailing the performance of their academy graduate.

One fan said: “Hamza Choudhury has got some stick this season but that was an immense display. Fair play.”

Another added: “Excellent hard fought win today to show that we do have some fight in us. Our home grown Hamza Choudhury MOTM, and Vardy a timeless performance.”

A third wrote: “Hamza Choudhury take a bow.”

“Hamza Choudhury has just had an absolute season defining performance. Absolutely heroic. Huge win, mentally that’s massive, for us and for the chasing pack,” another fan posted.

A fifth stated: “Man of the Match today Choudhury he saved us 3 points with his on the line clearances and superb defending!”

Hamza Choudhury’s incredible statistics v West Bromwich Albion

A look at Choudhury’s statistics and it’s easy to see why so many flocked to heap praise on him. Here they are, as per Sofascore.

  • 90 minutes
  • 83 touches
  • 93% accurate passes
  • 5 tackles
  • 3 clearances

The 26-year-old was awarded an eight-match rating. No player on the pitch scored a higher mark, with Wout Faes (7.7) ranking second.

With just three games of the Championship campaign remaining, City players need to use Choudhury’s battling performance as inspiration to get over the line.

If others can emulate the heart and desire he displayed yesterday, Leicester should have little issue in securing two wins, which would be enough to mathematically secure promotion to the Premier League.
