'Not as influential...': 5/10 Leicester City star 'looked tired' in the win against West Brom

Leicester City are back on track in their bid to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca‘s side secured three points at King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, defeating fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion 2-1.

The Foxes moved the summit of the Championship table, two points clear of second-placed Ipswich and four above Leeds United, who occupy third.

It was a topsy-turvy performance and a basketball-like affair in many ways, which hampered the performance of one Leicester ace.

Harry Winks has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign with The Foxes and fans have become accustomed to his high standards.

Though, against Albion, he was off the pace according to LeicestershireLive’s Jordan Blackwell, who wrote: “It wasn’t the controlled performance City are used to and so that limited Winks’ impact.

“He was not as influential on the ball as he can be, and looked tired at points in the second half.”

Blackwell handed Winks a five-match rating, which was the joint lowest score across the board with three others.

As the journalist alluded to, the 28-year-old looked tired which is no surprise given he’s started all but one Championship game this season.

Leicester City need to sign another Harry Winks

It’s certainly easier said than done but Leicester must sign another player like Winks to take the load off the former England international.

Yesterday’s below-par display was the culmination of playing too many games and it would’ve been useful to have another player of a similar profile to call upon.

The Foxes did try to sign Inter’s Stefano Sensi in January but that deal failed to materialise due to financial reasons.

Sammy Braybrooke is of a similar mould to Winks, though, the 20-year-old is still coming back from a long injury layoff and will need time to get back up to speed.

Perhaps with a solid pre-season under his belt, he could become a fixture of Maresca’s squad as many supporters expect him to.

City may have to be creative in the transfer market as they’ll likely be limited financially due to their current Profit and Susatibility saga, so perhaps a Premier League loan could be worth looking at.
