Princess Kate is set for a tough week ahead of an important Prince Louis decision.
Prince Louis, the royal couple's youngest child, turns six on Tuesday, April 23.
The Prince and Princess of Wales almost always release a new photo of their children on their birthdays.
In recent years, Kate, 42, personally took the snaps of the young royals, instead of enlisting a professional photographer.
However, Princess Kate suffered a backlash last month after admitting to editing a Mother's Day picture of herself alongside Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Online critics noticed inconsistencies within the photo, and Kate later took to social media to address the backlash.
She wrote: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.
"I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.
"I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."
The backlash to the photo later sparked doubt over whether Kate and William would continue the tradition of taking new photos of their children to mark their birthdays.
If the couple chooses to release a new photograph this week for Prince Louis, they could opt to hire a professional photographer to avoid accusations of digital manipulation.
An aide told the Sunday Times: "They appreciate the public’s love and affection for their children and know there is a public appetite to see them on their birthdays."

They added there was no "firm decision" on whether the Princess of Wales would choose to take the photograph of Prince Louis.

The mother-of-three is recuperating at Adelaide Cottage and is focusing on recovering before returning to royal duties.
