'Cold out there': Cole Palmer and Emi Buendia amazed by Aston Villa player after win v Bournemouth

What a week it has been for Aston Villa and Unai Emery!

Eight days and three huge wins could go a long, long way in the team securing Champions League football in May.

It all started with that stunning win over Arsenal, before that famous win in Lille and now the 3-1 win over Bournemouth in front of a jubilant Villa Park crowd.

From the get-go, Aston Villa were outstanding with the ball and they never showed an ounce of tiredness or the fact that they played 120 minutes in midweek.

What was even better is that they managed to come from 1-0 down – a Dominic Solanke penalty – to secure the three points.

Morgan Rogers, who was outstanding all game, equalised just before half-time before Ollie Watkins set up two brilliant assists for Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey to score.

You can’t fault any of the players for their performance because they were all outstanding.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, who is chasing the Golden Boot alongside Watkins, was sure to highlight the performance of Rogers on Instagram.

Alongside many other players, the England international praised the January capture for his display and his goal.

Morgan Rogers shines as Aston Villa beat Bournemouth

Palmer wrote in the comments section of Rogers’ IG post ‘cold out there’, with Ezri Konsa adding ‘player’ and Emiliano Buendia called him a ‘baller’.

Race for Champions League football

It now means that Villa are six points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham, who have two games in hand.

But we can go nine clear if we beat Chelsea next Saturday – Spurs are next in action on Sunday in the north London derby against Arsenal.

Points on the board are points on the board. This is the chance to put serious, serious pressure on Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.

It needs to be noted that added to Arsenal, Spurs also go away to Chelsea and make a trip to Anfield in these coming weeks.

Just like Villa, they can’t keep clean sheets and you just can’t see them winning all three of those games, so beating Chelsea next week for us is huge!
