‘Messing around’: Roy Keane unimpressed with 28-year-old Man United player vs Coventry today

Roy Keane was left furious after Manchester United’s second-half display in today’s FA Cup semi-final.

Erik ten Hag’s men looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory over Coventry City after a brilliant first-half performance.

Manchester United headed into the break with a 2-0 lead after goals from Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.

Bruno Fernandes then added a third for United just before the hour mark and it felt like a long way back for Coventry.

But following Ellis Simms’ effort in the 71st minute, United’s performance completely dropped off and allowed the Sky Blues back into the game.

Callum O’Hare and Haji Wright forced the game to extra time as Coventry completed a remarkable comeback.

And after a shocking second half from the Red Devils, Roy Keane couldn’t believe what he was watching.

Speaking on ITV’s coverage of the game, Keane reflected on a poor showing from his former side in the second half.

The United legend then singled out Andre Onana for criticism and accused the goalkeeper of ‘messing around’.

“I can’t believe what I’m watching,” Keane said. “You’re 3-0 up, you’re coasting, you start slowing the game down.

“You’re looking for leadership, you see the goalkeeper messing around. Once that goal went in for Coventry they got confidence and momentum.

“It’s all about Coventry now. But United, if they don’t get over the line in this game… I don’t know what to say.”

It’s fair to say that United simply weren’t good enough after taking a 3-0 lead but Onana proved to be the hero in the end.

The 28-year-old made a couple of huge saves in extra-time and also saved a penalty to help United reach the final.

Coventry denied massive FA Cup comeback

United rode their luck in extra time as Coventry were denied a last-minute winner.

The Sky Blues had the ball in the back of Onana’s net only for the VAR to rule the goal out due to an offside in the build-up.

Fortunately for Ten Hag, his players got the job done on penalties despite Casemiro missing their first effort from the spot.

It sets up another Manchester Derby in this year’s final and after today’s scare, plenty will be riding on the game for Ten Hag.
