'Superb...': Footage shows Sheffield Wednesday star chanting with fans after Blackburn Rovers win

Sheffield Wednesday won away at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, and there was a familiar face in the away end too.

Sheffield Wednesday travelled to Ewood Park on Sunday afternoon.

They went into yet another crucial crunch match in the Championship, but Danny Rohl watched his side beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 for the second time this season.

And both times, they’ve been spirited performances from the Owls, who for the first time are now out of the relegation zone under Rohl.

There’s now only two games left of the season with Sheffield Wednesday welcoming West Brom to Hillsborough this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday gave possibly their best all-round performance of the season at Blackburn.

Every man did his job and everyone gave their everything for the badge.

Josh Windass opened the scoring with what felt like a much-needed goal after six minutes, lobbing goalkeeper Aynsley Pears from distance.

Blackburn equalised soon after through Sammie Szmodics but Wednesday were back in front after the break, with Marvin Johnson finishing off a good Sheffield Wednesday move.

Pears then miskicked the ball and gifted the Owls a third.

Sheffield Wednesday took 7,000 fans to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

It was a sold out away end and midfielder George Byers was in there.

There were several posts on social media showing the Blackpool loan man in with the Wednesday fans, including a video of the 27-year-old chanting with the Wednesday fans after the game.

How is George Byers doing on loan at Blackpool

Byers was loaned out in January, much to the surprise of many.

The midfield department was bloated and Byers departed along with names like John Buckley and Tyreeq Bakinson.

And since, Byers has shone for top six hopefuls Blackpool.

He’s now featured 15 times in League One for the Seasiders and has one assist to his name, recently making headlines following a Man of the Match performance vs Fleetwood Town.

Byers is currently put of contract at Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

George Byers has given Danny Rohl food for thought

At times since January, the decision to let Byers leave has been a talking point.

Not only has he been doing well for Blackpool but there’s also a distinct lack of central midfielders at Wednesday, with Barry Bannan and Will Vaulks really the only two.

Momo Diaby and Jeff Hendrick have been largely out the side of late, with Liam Palmer having stepped in as a midfielder.

And with Bannan, Vaulks and Palmer all out of contract in the summer, along with Byers, it certainly gives Rohl a tough decision to make on Byers’ future.

His attendance at the game vs Blackburn clearly shows his love for the club, so handing him a new deal could be a shrewd move for the Owls.
