Bastian Schweinsteiger immediately reacts to ‘incredible’ FA Cup semi-final

Bastian Schweinsteiger reacts immediately as Manchester United advances to the FA Cup Final.

And breathe Manchester United fans. The Red Devils are through to the FA Cup Final but by the bloody skin of their teeth.

After goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes, it looked like United were cruising easily into their second consecutive FA Cup Final in two years.

How wrong they were.

Coventry City’s insane fightback foiled on penalties

It was after 71 minutes that it all began to go a bit pear-shaped for Manchester United.

Former Everton forward Ellis Simms got the first, a nice half-volley to get Coventry kicking again. Then it was Callum O’Hare’s turn, with a deflection to make it two and really get Erik ten Hag sweating.

Then, the unthinkable happened. Aaron Wan-Bissaka gave away a penalty, which Haji Wright converted with aplomb. Extra time loomed.

It went goalless for another half an hour, but then in the 120th minute – Victor Torp scored to win the game. Or so we thought, that was chalked off for offside. Mental.

Then it was United who held their nerve in the shootout. Lucky boys. Although stressful for the team in red, it’s an FA Cup classic that will go down in history. It put fans through a whirlwind of emotions, as touched on by former Manchester United man – Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bastian Schweinsteiger reacts

The German, who was recently on The Overlap with Gary Neville, took straight to X to share his thoughts immediately after the conclusion of the fixture. He wrote:

‘An incredible @EmiratesFACup semifinal between @Coventry City and @ManUtd!’

‘Congrats Red Devils for reaching the finals against @ManCity but I have to say thank you very much Coventry City for warming up my football heart again.’

‘Your passion for football and all the emotions are the example for every football player and supporter of a team.’

We have to agree with Basti. Coventry deserves credit for their incredible fightback. They definitely touched the hearts of football fans around the globe, including the former Bayern Munich icon.
