Michael Owen blown away by what ‘incredible’ manager linked with Liverpool has been doing

Michael Owen has been impressed by one ‘incredible’ manager who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

At this moment in time, it’s difficult to decipher what the future holds for Liverpool post the Jurgen Klopp era.

Ruben Amorim may be the favourite to succeed Klopp, but it’s not set in stone that he will take over things at Anfield just yet.

There are a few other managers in the mix too, who will or have already been interviewed for the job. FSG will want to take their time and make the best decision for the future of the club.

How that will work out remains to be seen. But there is one manager who isn’t Amorim, but who could also be a great option, and who has already caught Michael Owen’s attention.

Michael Owen on ‘incredible’ Unai Emery

Unai Emery may not be the favourite for the Liverpool job at the moment, but he has been linked with the Reds.

It’s a bit of a surprise his name doesn’t get as much mention as others in the mix. The 52-year-old has done a great job at Aston Villa and has a brilliant proven track record.

Previously, he’s worked wonders at Villareal and Sevilla, and while things didn’t work out for him at Arsenal, he didn’t do a bad job there either.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Michael Owen seemed full of praise for the current Aston Villa manager and praised his credentials.

“I think there are so many different ways a manager show their worth. Some managers can only work if they have got a lot of money and they are very good at selecting certain players.

“Some are brilliant on a shoe-string; if you give them money, they are not very good at spending it. Some can improve players. I think this guy certainly can, he has shown that.

“Actually it feels like he is an all-round manager. I mean, he can win trophies as well. He has got a career littered with trophies. He is into a semi-final as well of a European competition, and he is incredible in Europe.”

Would Unai Emery be a good appointment for Liverpool?

The job Emery has done at Aston Villa speaks for itself. He’s a great manager who enjoys working with young players and has got the best out of Villa this season.

There are few managers of his pedigree in European football at the moment who also have Premier League experience.

Emery may not be the most popular appointment, but he could be a really smart option for Liverpool.
