A cold and windy evening seemed to deter quite a few riders from attending with a field of just five riders from local clubs along with Wisbech Wheeler Vet Lady Denese Hallahan, who completed the course in 39.48.

April 16 was Spalding CC’s first 10-mile Time Trial of the season held on the course at Pode Hole.

Another good field of 19 riders braved the chilly temperatures with William Horspool (junior) finishing with a time of 23:21 to finish in seventh place.

King's Lynn had their open 10-mile TT on 20th April where a strong northerly wind made for tough conditions for the 31 starting riders.

Wisbech Wheelers had four riders taking part with M. McClure (senior) having a strong ride to finish second overall with a time of 21:56 while Roger Sewell (vet) had a time of 27:55.

The ladies of the club not to be outdone, were represented by K. Wales (senior) who finished first female rider with a time of 27:29. Denese Hallahan (vet) finished with a 37:45.

William Horspool picked up more points in round 4 of the NCRA Spring Handicap Race held on a windy Southwick course on April 6.

In a very intense race with all six starting groups finally coming together at the bottom of the finishing hill, William climbed strongly to finish 7th overall.

Round five of the NCRA Spring Handicap was held at Walgrave.

The weather made for some favourable riding conditions for the 55 riders with only group two managing to catch the group in front. William Horspool was sent out in group four and finished in 33rd place.

The club starts its introduction to group riding on Wednesday.

These rides are suitable for everyone, with a distance of 10 miles and a ride time of around one hour. They encourage anyone who would like to give cycling a go to join them at the Sportsman Pub in Elm from 6pm.

The club is also celebrating their 100th year of being a cycle club on Sunday, May 19.

To mark the occasion, they will be taking part in a fun social ride, with a choice of three routes (100 miles, 60 miles and 30 miles) all leaving and returning to the Secret Garden Touring Park in Wisbech St Mary where they will have a few nibbles to celebrate the milestone.
