'Not seeing that': Stuart Pearce doesn't like something Nottingham Forest did after Everton defeat

Stuart Pearce has now delivered his verdict on the Nottingham Forest developments that have kicked off since the weekend.

The Reds lost 2-0 at Everton with the game marred by controversies involving three penalty incidents involving Forest.

It couldn’t look any more obvious if the PGMOL tried that Forest have royally annoyed them at the moment.

Not only do the Reds appear to be getting few decisions in their favour but it would seem that Stuart Attwell, the VAR on Sunday, is a Luton fan.

Quite simply, the official should never have been put in that situation and Forest released a statement on Sunday.

The statement wascriticised by Alan Shearer and Micah Richards who poked fun at Forest.

Others have come out in support of the football club, with Stephen Warnock defending Forest for their penalty appeals.

Now, a club legend in Pearce has thrown his verdict on Forest into the mix.

Stuart Pearce delivers verdict on Nottingham Forest statement

Pearce’s name is held in high regard at the City Ground and ultimately the club are very close to his heart.

The legendary figure served the club with distinction as a player and he also spent a short time managing the club too.

However, Pearce doesn’t agree with the approach that Forest took in releasing their statement on Sunday.

He told TalkSPORT: “Forest are close to my heart but to make statements like that suggesting that there was bias and cheating going on because of loyalties to a certain club, I don’t see that at all. It’s a poor statement.

“In regards to the penalties I think first one, no. The second one, yes. The third one, 100%. I can understand their frustration in regards to the decision but every referee and everyone who works in VAR has an allegiance to a football club because that’s why they joined the ranks, we all support a team.

“To suggest this country and our officials are biased, I’m not seeing that.”

Pearce has a point but Forest are fuming

In our view, Pearce gets very little wrong when it comes to Forest. He’s a complete legend at the club and what he says typically goes.

We also think that in this sense, he’s got a point. Forest can’t just go around accusing referees of cheating and that’s a poor look, to say the least.

Attwell – or any official – will never set out to bring the game into disrepute and cheat but Sunday was a disasterclass in refereeing.

Forest have to start being more professional with certain things and ultimately they can’t go around making these claims.

Clearly, Evangelos Marinakis isn’t a happy man. He’s had enough of the constant rubbish that his team are getting and this is the straw that has broken his resolve.

Pearce is right though. He’s a respected man throughout football and in our view, it’s a shame he’s not still involved at the club in some sort of capacity.
