‘The pressure is on’: Chris Sutton has now made a prediction about Man City's game against Brighton

Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.

After securing their place in the FA Cup final by beating Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday, the Blues will be returning to Premier League duties on Thursday with an away match against Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Looking ahead to this game on the south coast, one pundit has shared a prediction for how he thinks this game will pan out and what it could mean for Pep Guardiola’s side in terms of the title race.

In his latest column for BBC Sport where he previewed and predicted the scores for this midweek round of Premier League fixtures, Sutton had this to say about Thursday’s match between City and Brighton.

He said: “The Brighton of last season would have been very awkward opponents for Manchester City, but I am not so sure they offer the same test this year.

“Still, there is no margin of error for Pep Guardiola’s side.

“They have the advantage in the title race at the moment but even a draw changes things completely at the top of the table, so the pressure is on. 0-2.”

Will Man City beat Brighton on Thursday?

The Seagulls have had a rather mixed Premier League campaign this season, winning 11, drawing 11 and losing 10 of their 32 games, scoring 52 goals and conceding 50 along the way.

In comparison, City have won 22 of their 32 league games, with seven draws and three defeats.

They’ve also scored 76 goals and conceded 32, highlighting how much better they have been at both ends of the pitch than their upcoming opponents.

This makes it easy to see why Sutton thinks City will walk away with three points on Thursday night and take a step closer to potentially winning a fourth Premier League title in a row.

Given how close Arsenal and Liverpool are to City at the top of the table, we agree with Sutton that every game the Treble winners have left to play in the league is very important.
