Yves Bissouma shares what he really thinks about Ange Postecoglou after recent struggles at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has provided his honest opinion on Ange Posrecoglou ahead of the game on the weekend.

It has been a turbulent last month or so for Tottenham who have seen plenty of twists and turns in the race for the top four.

After capitalising on Aston Villa’s draw against Brentford, Spurs did climb into the top four.

But Ange Postecoglou‘s side’s defeat away to Newcastle United saw Unai Emery’s men return to the fourth spot.

And they have since opened up a six point gap on Spurs who have some seriously difficult fixtures coming their way.

Whether Spurs qualify for the Champions League or not, it is still a campaign which has shown a lot of progression under the Australian.

One player who Spurs will be hoping can find his best form amid this difficult fixture schedule is Yves Bissouma.

The Mali midfielder has had a difficult time of late on the pitch and he has issued his honest verdict on what it’s been like playing under Postecoglou.

Yves Bissouma shares what it’s been like under Ange Postecoglou

After a really difficult spell under Antonio Conte, the arrival of the 58-year-old Australian looked to have revitalized Bissouma

The 27-year-old finally looked like the player Spurs had bought from Brighton & Hove Albion as he nailed down the spot in the midfielder.

However, his early season form hit the rocks when he picked up a red card against Luton Town and since then he has really struggled to look like the same player.

Bissouma has now become Tottenham’s biggest underperformer in comparison to the early season form he showed.

However, the Mali midfielder has remained a regular part of Postecoglou’s side but has experienced some difficult moments.

The 27-year-old was hooked off at half-time against Nottingham Forest alongside Pape Matar Sarr and the substitutions transformed the game.

But, speaking to Sky Sports about his time under the Australian, Bissouma only had positive words to say about his manager.

“It’s very good to work with him. To be honest, he’s a very good coach. And yeah the way he man manages, the way he manages the players he is one of the best coaches. I’m so happy to be with him,” he said.

“He really takes care of his players. It’s not just about football, he really cares about his players. He treats his players like a family and he says that every time, ‘we have to be like a family’. And he shows us the way to be like that. I think to meet a coach like him is really special for me because he’s my manager, he’s my boss, but he’s also part of my family.”

Should Yves Bissouma start against Arsenal on Sunday?

When looking at the Mali midfielder’s recent form, it would probably suggest that Postecoglou should make a change in the middle.

However, Spurs have also been hit with a huge injury blow to Destiny Udogie who will now miss the remainder of the campaign after surgery.

So making more changes than perhaps necessary may be avoided by Postecoglou going into such an important game.

But it is apparent Postecoglou still has a lot of trust in Bissouma having hailed him after the draw earlier in the month against West Ham.

“I thought tonight especially in our general play, our build-up and our organisation. I thought Biss was outstanding tonight and the back four handled,” he said.

“Look at their front four and they’ll cause any team problems. I thought there was a better structural maturity in our game tonight than say like against Fulham so for me that’s progress.”
