Kyiv indicts Moscow-appointed Rosatom officials of disconnecting ZNPP from Ukrainian power grid

These are Eduard Atakishchev, deputy director of the seized nuclear power plant, and his subordinate, chief engineer Andrey Gorbunov.

According to the investigation, before the "appointment" they worked at the Rostov NPP, from where they came in early October 2022 to the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhya Oblast and joined the management of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.

There, the criminals were engaged in "integrating" the power facility into the Rosatom structure and connecting the plant's technological capacities to the Russian energy system.

In addition, the defendants incited Ukrainian nuclear engineers to cooperate with the Russians and enter into "contracts" with the occupation administration of the NPP, and in case of refusal, they threatened them with persecution by the Russian repressive bodies.

Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators indicted both defendants in absentia under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

p. 2, Article 28, Part 1, Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war);

p. 4 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 (incitement to commit treason under martial law by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).

ZNPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Since March 2022, it has been under Russian occupation.
