Liam Scales tells how Brendan Rodgers is really coping with the ‘pressure’ of Celtic’s title race

As the title race hots up, all Celtic really need to do is win their remaining five games in the Scottish Premiership and they will be crowned champions.

Sounds easy enough, right? Well, as we all know, and what this season has taught us is that nothing can be taken for granted and results are not guaranteed despite Celtic being the best team in the country so far.

First up is a tricky away tie to Dundee this Sunday. And as Rangers found out to their cost, Tony Docherty’s men will be no pushovers.

With a three-point advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership and another Glasgow Derby to come (which is looking like it could be a title decider), the pressure is mounting on both teams as approach the business end of the season.

Liam Scales reveals Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic mood

So how does Brendan Rodgers cope with it all? So far this season the Celtic manager has had to put up with pressure from the media narrative, the whole Jane Lewis debacle and losing many of his key players to injury.

Liam Scales has offered an insight and it seems that the Celtic manager is as cool as a cucumber.

Scales said [Scottish Daily Mail print edition page 70], “This is all second nature to him.

“He exudes that calmness in this situation and we feel that from him. He trusts in his players and his philosophy.

“He embraces this pressure at this part of the season.”

If Rodgers is as calm as Scales says he is then that will bode well for the Celtic squad ahead of the title run-in.

And, of course, Rodgers and many of the current Celtic squad have been over this course many times before.

If the manager is not showing the pressure then, hopefully, the players won’t feel it which should lead to better performances on the pitch and hopefully help CEltic get those five much-needed wins to seal the title.
