‘Really special’ Liverpool attacker could be set for a big role against Everton

One Liverpool attacker should be expected to play a major role for Liverpool against Everton tomorrow night.

Amid all the chaos surrounding Liverpool at the moment and the club’s new managerial appointment, almost everyone has forgotten that there is a game to be played tomorrow.

And it’s not just any kind of game, it’s as big as it gets for Liverpool. A derby against the club’s old rivals, Everton.

To make things even harder it will be played across Stanley Park at Goodison, in enemy territory for Liverpool. It’s also a must win. Liverpool cannot afford any more slip-ups now if they are to stand any chances of winning the Premier League.

Why Gakpo Gakpo could be the key for Liverpool against Everton

Everton will not make things easy for Liverpool. They will be difficult to break down and the Reds will struggle as they have always done at Goodison Park recently.

During their last five visits at Everton, Liverpool have drawn four times and won just once. Some Liverpool forwards don’t necessarily have a great record against Everton either.

Luis Diaz for example has zero goal contributions in three matches against Everton. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota has scored just twice in ten matches against them.

One player though who has a 100% record is Cody Gakpo. He’s only played against Everton once in his career so far, but in that game he managed to beat Liverpool’s rivals and score a goal.

Gakpo is in great form at the moment and his numbers from the weekend

In the last few games, Gakpo has been in great form for Liverpool and has really caught the eye with his performances.

He made impressive cameos against Atalanta and Crystal Palace, and has been starting to prove why he was once described as ‘really special’ by Jurgen Klopp.

Last weekend his numbers as per Fotmob, these were his key stats in the Fulham game:

  • Won the most duels (7)
  • Created the most chances (3)
  • Completed the most dribbles (3)
  • Made the most recoveries (10)
