Report: ‘Amazing’ manager who wanted to Leeds United move could now join Liverpool in the summer

For once, Leeds United are settled in the manager department. Daniel Farke is here to stay at Elland Road for the foreseeable, whatever happens at the end of the season; promotion, or the staying put.

Leeds will definitely be in the play-offs at the end of the season and that is a solid achievement following relegation. Especially, given the mess Leeds were in at the start of the season. But, could still get second.

Leicester look as though they’ve won the Championship, after a 5-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday night. It also ends any hope The Saints might have had of making a late push for automatic promotion.

So, Farke is staying put. Since the turn of the century, Leeds have had 22 managers – not including those on a caretaker basis like Michael Skubala, who took charge of three games after Jesse Marsch’s sacking.

Dutchman wanted to join Leeds after Jesse Marsch’s sacking

Leeds had decided to axe Jesse Marsch but bizarrely, had not lined up a replacement for the American. It saw a frantic few weeks of Leeds looking for a manager – but no-one joining given the perilous position.

Eventually, Javi Gracia came in and was sacked with four games left – Sam Allardyce given the impossible task of keeping us up. One manager that was linked with replacing Marsch, was Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.

It made sense. Slot, a forward-thinking, progressive boss that had just got the best out of Luis Sinisterra the season prior as Feyenoord reached the Conference League final, losing to Jose Mourninho’s Roma.

Slot was keen on a move to Leeds, according to some reports. But a move never materialised, with Slot opting to remain with Feyenoord as he pursued his first career Eredivisie title as a player or manager.

Arne Slot could be on his way to Liverpool after Leeds lnks

He got it, Leeds went down. His reputation continued to rise while Leeds plummeted south to the second tier. So much so that now, Liverpool are keen to land Slot. The Telegraph say The Reds have made a move.

He deserves the attention of a big club like Liverpool. Slot has starred in his role at Feyenoord and while he is yet to do it in a big league domestically, he has certainly proved his worth on the European stage.

Exciting football, goals galore. Leeds would have pulled off a real coup landing Slot, but whether he would have had the necessary tools to fight a relegation battle is unclear. An“amazing” manager.
