Arsenal target Joshua Zirkzee was amongst those to react on social media after Jurrien Timber made his return from injury by playing for the Gunners’ under-21s on Monday night.
Arsenal have received a massive boost ahead of the final weeks of the season. Jurrien Timber has been sidelined since the opening game of the campaign after sustaining an injury against Nottingham Forest.
It was alarming how he was unable to carry on despite being able to walk off the pitch, particularly when you have seen Virgil van Dijk leave the field of his own accord before spending months on the sidelines a few years ago.
And unfortunately, Timber had not played since.

But the 22-year-old is getting closer to being available for Mikel Arteta’s side again. The defender featured in Monday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. And of course, Timber scored a stunning goal in the game.
Mehmet Ali was full of praise for Timber after the game. And the defender has now been lauded after posting on Instagram today.
There were messages from the likes of van Dijk, Edu Gaspar and Georginio Wijnaldum. But there was also a simple message from reported Arsenal target Joshua Zirkzee…
Mikel Arteta may now face a selection dilemma
It remains to be seen if Mikel Arteta will look to use Timber in the final games of the season. He will surely be wary of rushing him back after such a long time out.
Every game is so important to Arsenal now. They probably cannot afford to drop any points if they are going to catch see off Manchester City.
So not only will Arteta not want to take a chance on Timber’s fitness, but he will also be aware that there will inevitably be some sharpness which needs to come back before the defender is on top form again.
But it will give everyone a further lift if Timber does feature for Arsenal before the campaign concludes.
