Report: Manager in talks with West Ham for months, has been living in England to perfect language

One manager in particular has apparently been in talks with West Ham United for months now.

Current West Ham manager David Moyes seems certain to leave the London Stadium in the summer.

However, reports are still suggesting that no decision will be made on his future until the 2023/24 campaign has ended.

David Sullivan appears to be casting his net far and wide with moves being mooted for numerous different managers, whilst David Ornstein has just kept the Ruben Amorim dream alive for the Hammers.

As things stand though, I would be hugely surprised if the Hammers managed to snare the 39-year-old Sporting CP coach.

There is another man who seems like a far more realistic appointment for West Ham, somewhat annoyingly…

All that is certain right now is that Moyes has taken us as far as he can.

The Scot has transformed us as a club over the past few years, but he has now reached his ceiling.

A new manager is needed to help us reach the next level as far as I’m concerned. And David Sullivan has seemingly been plotting a change in the managerial department for quite some time…

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, West Ham have been in talks with Julen Lopetegui for months now.

It is suggested that he has mostly been living in England since his exit from Wolves in order to perfect the English language.

The 57-year-old Spaniard has reportedly already agreed a deal in principle to become the new Hammers boss in the summer.

However, Lopetegui would be an extremely underwhelming appointment to say the least. He’s far from an exciting coach, and is usually fairly pragmatic.

Another concern is his history of failing to bring through many youth players from the academies at the clubs he’s managed.

I don’t say this lightly, but I genuinely think I’d prefer to keep Moyes.

With the Spanish manager having been in talks with West Ham for months though, this one has the feeling of a deal that will likely happen this summer.
