Sheffield United travel to Manchester United tonight and Chris Wilder has a number of big selection calls to make.
The Blades boss saw his team hammered at the weekend by Burnley despite some positive bits of play in the opening half an hour.
Wilder himself has admitted he liked some of what he saw from his players but also admitted that the attitude of some in how they effectively went under, was not acceptable.
That’s left Wilder with some big selection questions for tonight’s trip to Old Trafford.
Sheffield United selection issues at Manchester United
The main topic for Wilder to address is does he continue to play new signing Ivo Grbic in goal.
The Croatian has had a nightmare since he signed he and Wilder himself has even admitted that the stopper has struggled. Wes Foderingham or even Adam Davies could get the nod, while Jordan Amissah watches on from afar.
At the back, a return to five is more likely as United look to combat The Red Devil’s pacey attacking stars.
Yasser Larouci could come back in after doing well at Brentford, meaning Ben Osborn moves back into a midfield three. Mason Holgate will also come back into the thinking after missing the Burnley game.
In that midfield three, Vini Souza is surely going to drop out after being ironically cheered off at the weekend. That means Oli Arblaster and Gus Hamer should keep their places.
Up top, Oli McBurnie and Ben Brereton-Diaz have done well but Wilder could be tempted to throw Cameron Archer or Will Osula in, given the quick turnaround in games and McBurnie’s fitness struggles.
Sheffield United’s predicted XI at Old Trafford
We think there’ll be changes. The goalkeeper has to come out as he’s been so poor, and as mentioned, Vini Souza needs to be nowhere near this XI.
