'Away you go': Alan Brazil picks who will finish in second place - Leeds United or Ipswich Town

Alan Brazil has predicted who out of Leeds United or Ipswich Town will finish second in the Championship behind Leicester City after their 5-0 win over Southampton.

Enzo Maresca watched his Foxes place a hand on the league title after the huge victory over the Saints on Tuesday. It is a result that gives a clear indication of where the promotion race is heading.

It opened up a gap of four points between second-placed Leeds United and Leicester. Ipswich remain in third a point behind Daniel Farke‘s men but with a game in hand having only played 43 matches.

It is all to play for between Leeds and Ipswich for second place and Alan Brazil has had his say on who will go up with Leicester. The presenter was discussing the race for promotion on TalkSPORT this morning.

Leeds host Southampton at Elland Road on the final day. The Saints now have no chance of the top two but could meet either Leeds or Ipswich in the play-offs next month, whoever finishes third.

Leeds play before Ipswich are next in action and that could see The Whites open up a four-point gap on Kieran McKenna’s men. Farke takes his side to QPR on Friday while Ipswich go to Hull City on Saturday.

Brazil made it clear which sides go up in the top two spots, and which two will fight it out in the play-offs.

Alan Brazil chooses between Leeds and Ipswich

Speaking to TalKSPORT (24/04, 6.20AM), Brazil said: “Away you go, Leicester are up! Leicester, Leeds or Ipswich – two of the three. Leicester and Ipswich that go up, with Leeds and Southampton in the playoffs.”

What is interesting are the games that both sides have left. Ipswich have to go to Hull and Coventry before hosting Huddersfield and those first two fixtures have all the potential to disrupt McKenna’s side.

The Whites go to struggling QPR and then a Southampton side who have just been shell-shocked 5-0 by Leicester. That loss may allow them time to prepare for the play-offs and even rest players against Leeds.

Why Barry Bannan and Neil Warnock want Ipswich to go up

It does look as if it will be between the Yorkshire outfit and the East Anglians. Neil Warnock said he’d love to see Ipswich get promoted while on punditry duty during Leicester’s gigantic win over the Saints.

He loves what McKenna has done which is an incredible achievement, taking Ipswich from League One to the brink of Premier League promotion. Barry Bannan would love to see Ipswich get promoted this term.

That is despite both Warnock and Bannan once being at Leeds as a manager and a player respectively. All eyes will now be on Leeds come Friday night as they go to QPR before Ipswich’s clash against Hull City.
