Cesc Fabregas says £54m Man City ace is one of his favourite ever Premier League players

Cesc Fabregas has named one Manchester City player as one of the all-time Premier League greats.

The Spaniard made 350 top-flight appearances during his playing career, featuring alongside and coming up against a lot of players in the process.

Now though, the 36-year-old has been highlighting some of his favourite all-time Premier League players, with one current City star getting mentioned.

In a recent video shared on the Daily Mail Sport TikTok channel where he was coming up with an all-time Premier League XI, Fabregas named Kevin De Bruyne as one of his midfield options.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea player also picked Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard as his other midfield picks.

After having an unsuccessful spell at Chelsea, De Bruyne spent 18 months at Wolfsburg before making his move to the Etihad Stadium in the 2015 summer transfer window.

City paid £54m to sign the midfielder, who has since gone on to comfortably pay that fee back with his performances and goal contributions.

Specifically, with 375 appearances for City under his belt, the 32-year-old has scored 101 goals and supplied 166 assists.

Fabregas isn’t the only former Premier League star to praise Kevin De Bruyne

This isn’t the first time De Bruyne has found himself being recognised by a former Premier League star, as Thierry Henry, who was also included in Fabregas’ all-time XI, said this about the Belgian back in May.

He said: I think Kevin, his brain is the best I’ve ever seen, the way he sees the game. Because his brain is in some places, I don’t know what he thinks about sometimes, you look at him and it’s almost like he’s not with us because he’s that good.

“Sometimes it can be a problem because you’re not on his level, but I think he’s the most clever player I’ve seen in my life.

“It’s just second to none, the way he thinks. Because I saw him for six years on and off with Belgium, you love the man a bit more, because I saw stuff he did in training and in games.

“He’s unbelievable. His brain, I’m still thinking about some stuff I’ve seen, he’s on a different planet.”

With all of that in mind, and the fact that De Bruyne has won five Premier League titles during his time with City, it’s no surprise that Fabregas has named him alongside some of the other top players he included in his ultimate top-flight XI.
