Histon conclude United Counties League Premier Division South season with single-goal defeat at Easington Sports

Histon signed off from their 2023/24 Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division campaign with a 1-0 defeat on the road at Easington Sports.

Yet while the season ended on an inconsistent note with two wins and two losses, there are still plenty of positives for the Stutes to take into a first summer under boss Chris Nunn.

When Nunn was appointed as manager midway through October of last year, Histon were languishing within the lower reaches of the table with just two wins from 12 outings to their name.

However, any threats of relegation quickly diminished and after Christmas they went on a run of just one defeat in 11 league matches, bringing the top half of the table into view in the process.

Nunn wrote on X after the final-day loss: “Not the result we wanted today, but full credit to the Histon boys.

“We gave it a go but lost to a good Easington. Been a quick and enjoyable six months. Huge thank you to the travelling to Histon supporters.”

Nunn’s men currently sit 10th, although they will drop a place to 11th were Bugbrooke St Michaels to win their final game of the season at Easington tonight (24 April).
