Inter Miami duo set to return to squad this weekend, Messi loves playing with one of them - journalist

Inter Miami are reportedly set to welcome two key players from injury for their MLS clash against the New England Revolution, one of which Lionel Messi is a fan of.

The Herons have been plagued with injuries this season that have already seen Facundo Farias ruled out for the year as Diego Gomez and Jordi Alba have both recently suffered issues that will keep the duo out for some time.

With Federico Redondo also on the treatment table, injuries have played a cruel role in Inter Miami’s season, with Messi also missing close to a month of action after picking up a hamstring problem last month.

Yet this weekend will see two key players return to action for Inter Miami.

Inter Miami duo Leonardo Campana and Robert Taylor set to return from injury

As per the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman, Leonardo Campana and Robert Taylor are set to return to the Inter Miami squad this weekend to face New England after both players endured time out on the recovery table.

Campana has proven to be quite the useful backup option to Messi with the Ecuadorian international already scoring two goals this season in the Argentine’s absence, with the 23-year-old set for a big year with Inter Miami.

As for Taylor, the Finnish international last year established himself as one of the Inter Miami players who quickly built a good connection with Messi, with the duo scoring four goals having been assisted by one another in the last 12 months.

Indeed, Campana and Taylor’s returns have not come at a more ideal time for Inter Miami, and with new signing Matias Rojas finally through the door, the Herons will have some serious firepower heading to New England this weekend.

Messi will be pleased to see attacking teammates return from injury

Messi’s return to fitness has seen Inter Miami shoot up the league, with the Herons now sitting top of the Supporters’ Shield race with the Florida franchise the most effective team in MLS in front of goal.

Yet the Argentine will be pleased to see two attackers return to the matchday squad for this weekend’s clash against New England, with Messi now no longer the sole player who can provide goals for Inter Miami.

As mentioned, Campana and Taylor both bring something unique to the table for Inter Miami, and the pair will be welcome returnees in the squad with Messi yet to receive a break since returning from injury.
