‘Tough’: Julian Alvarez shares what Man City need to do to beat Brighton tonight

Julian Alvarez has shared what Manchester City need to do to beat Brighton & Hove Albion in tonight’s Premier League match.

The Blues have just six games left to play in the campaign, starting with tonight’s away match against the Seagulls.

With the Manchester club in another title race, one figure in Pep Guardiola’s side has shared some insight into what the Citizens need to do on the pitch to make sure they end up lifting another Premier League trophy, starting with tonight’s showdown on the south coast.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of tonight’s game, Alvarez had this to say about Brighton and the remaining games of the season.

He said: “Brighton is a tough opponent. They are doing very well and have great players. But like I said, if we can execute our game plan then we can win.

“It is a difficult fight. Arsenal and Liverpool are very strong, and they have good players and good teams. Every single game is a final and we have to play like a final if we want to be champions.

“It is very important for us. It would be unbelievable as no other team has done this in history.

“Of course, we want to do it, but we have to keep focusing on the next game and that is Brighton and then the others.

“It is hard, but we have done it last season where we were fighting for three titles at the same time.

“Now we have to focus on Brighton and then Nottingham Forest. It is tough, but if we are able to do it, then it will be easier for us.

“We have the players, we are doing well and if we play with our style then we can win every game – it depends on us if we want to be champions and to do that, we have to win every game.”

Alvarez is right about Brighton

Back in October, when the two sides met at the Etihad Stadium for their first Premier League meeting of the season, City came away with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Alvarez and Erling Haaland.

In that game, the Blues had 55% possession and registered 10 attempts at goal with five being on target.

In comparison, Brighton were able to have six shots at City’s goal across the 90 minutes, with three being on target.

Across the entire season, Roberto De Zerbi’s side have racked up the highest percentage of shots on target (37.5%).

This shows why Alvarez thinks the Seagulls are such a tough side and why City will have to stop them from getting into goalscoring positions as much as possible if they want to come away with another victory.
