Brighton & Hove Albion are considering bringing German star Deniz Undav back to the club this summer after his stellar campaign in the Bundesliga, TBR Football understands.
Deniz Undav is currently with Stuttgart – who he joined last summer on loan with an option, although it was not a mandatory option.
Now TBR understands that Brighton are looking into bringing Undav back to England this summer.
Brighton make Undav plan
Undav himself has helped fire Stuttgart into the Champions League places and he has also been capped by Germany and is in contention to be in Julian Nagelsmann‘s squad for the European Championships.
Stuttgart, though, are ready to push for Undav – especially as they could lose his strike partner Serhou Guirassy – who has a release clause of less than £20 million.
TBR can also reveal that Sporting Lisbon have been checking on Undav, who they see as a potential option to replace Viktor Gyokeres – who is expected to move this summer.
Undav could have role to play at Brighton
The Seagulls snapped up Undav from St Gilloise back in January 2022 but the forward remained on loan at the Belgian outfit that season.
Undav had a hand in nine goals in 30 appearances in his debut season at the Amex Stadium last time out.
The German forward joined Stuttgart on loan last summer and it’s fair to say he’s excelled in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old has bagged 18 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions this season.
Roberto De Zerbi is currently lacking a prolific goalscorer outside of Joao Pedro, who is enjoying a promising first season on the south coast.
Pedro has netted 19 times in all competitions this season but just eight have come in the Premier League.
Undav’s versatility could also be useful for De Zerbi, with the German forward able to operate in an advanced midfield role as well as up front.
