Report: Who Newcastle United would rather sell this summer - Alexander Isak or Bruno Guimaraes

There is a fear that Newcastle United will have to sell one of their star players this summer, with Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes heavily linked with moves away.

They are Newcastle United‘s best and most valuable players, and it is no surprise that the best teams in Europe are keeping an eye on them.

Bruno Guimaraes is attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City, with the 26-year-old aware that the two Premier League giants are keen on securing his signature.

And Arsenal are also interested in Alexander Isak, although rumours that they could sign him for £100million are surely wide of the mark. He is much more valuable than that to the Magpies, while he does not have a release clause in his contract.

Bruno does, however, meaning he could be sold this summer if someone comes in with a £100million offer.

That kind of deal would help the club out regarding profit and sustainability and allow them to heavily reinvest, although it would be heartbreaking to say goodbye to a player as talented as Bruno.

Newcastle need top level players like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes

But it would just as tough to see Isak leave St James’ Park.

Both players are immensely talented, and have the ability to take Newcastle United to the heights that PIF want to reach. But they will struggle to get there any time soon, with financial regulations limiting their ability to splash the cash.

That is why there are fears that one of Bruno or Isak could leave, meaning Newcastle United might have to make an incredibly difficult decision.

Who Newcastle United would rather sell

So who would the Magpies rather sell, or who would they rather not lose? 90min believe they have the answer in a new report about Bruno’s future at St James’ Park.

According to 90min, Newcastle would rather retain the services of Isak over Bruno, making the latter more likely to leave the club this summer.

They add that the 26-year-old could even be sold for less than his release clause, with Arsenal and Man City aware that they might be able to land him for £80million. That is still a huge amount of money, but it is £20million shy of his release clause.

There would be a lot of anger on Tyneside if he went for that amount, and it is difficult to envision Newcastle United sanctioning such a deal.

Isak is more valuable to Newcastle than Bruno

In a perfect world, Newcastle would not sell Bruno or Isak. But if they have to pick one, it is understandable that they would prioritise keeping the Sweden international.

Goalscorers like him are harder to find and more expensive to sign, while replacing Bruno would perhaps not be quite as challenging.

But hopefully this is a futile discussion, as the Magpies will have aspirations of keeping both players at the club. They have no plans to sell Isak, while the fact that Bruno has bought a new house in the area hints towards him staying as well.
