Crysencio Summerville’s parents

Little is known about Crysencio Summerville’s parents, but it is known that they are of Surinamese descent and the pair raised the youngster in the Netherlands – leading to his representation of the Dutch youth national team.

The behaviour of his father has been praised by a former youth coach of Summerville’s though, particularly when it came to the lack of pressure heaped on him at a young age.

Gaston Taument – a former coach of Summerville at Feyerrnoord – told The Athletic: “One of the good things is this: I’ve trained for 20 years with youth teams and one of the problems is the parents who shout at their kids, who make their kids like a king.

“It’s a dream of the parents — mostly the father — to have a kid who becomes a professional player.

“Crysencio’s father was always quiet. When Crysencio was the best player in a tournament, won prizes or played very well, his father was the same.

“He was calm and he had a distance. No pressure — no pressure from the family at all.”

The second chant for Summerville involves his fellow countrymen yet again, this time to the tune of “Rockin’ All Over the World” by Status Quo.

The lyrics for that are: “And I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it. Oh whoa, oh whoa, here we go-oh. Summerville, Struijk and Piroe.”
