‘My understanding’: Will Buxton shares how much of Ferrari’s budget cap will now be covered by ‘huge’ HP deal

Ferrari announced a new deal with HP that could have a huge impact on their budget cap.

It’s a partnership that will begin at the Miami Grand Prix and coincides with one immediate change made to Ferrari’s livery that has left Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok shocked.

Posting on social media after the announcement, Will Buxton has shared the full impact of the deal on Ferrari’s finances.

It’s already been an interesting year for the finances of Frederic Vasseur’s team after the last big announcement that they made.

That was when Lewis Hamilton shared that he would be joining the team in 2025 after more than a decade with Mercedes.

In the aftermath of Hamilton’s statement, Ferrari’s share price rose%20%E2%80%93%20on%20Thursday.) by 10% which is the equivalent of nearly £5.5bn.

While this will only have an indirect impact on Ferrari’s Formula 1 team, Hamilton’s imminent arrival does make the team more appealing to investors and advertisers.

HP are keen to get ahead of the curve and have agreed to a ‘huge deal’ with Ferrari that will see their logo appear prominently on their race suits and the car itself.

It’s not HP’s first foray into Formula 1, although they’re currently associated with another team on the grid much more than Ferrari.

HP make return to Formula 1 grid with Ferrari

Posting on Twitter about the impact of the deal on Ferrari’s finances, Buxton said: “A huge deal for Ferrari, with my understanding that its financial value will cover 2/3 (66%) of the budget cap per annum.

“A massive partnership. Seeing that logo brings back some great early 2000s F1 memories.

“Would love to see it inspire some NART style blue and white liveries for North American races.”

The most iconic HP-liveried car in Formula 1 history is the Williams car of the early 2000s.

Back in 2010, HP then featured on the yellow and black Renault car driven by Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov.

The Pole featured a couple of times on the podium that year, but HP will feel their new deal with Ferrari could give them an awful lot more prominence on the grid.

Ferrari continue to build towards Lewis Hamilton’s arrival

It’s no surprise that sponsors are going to start to flock towards the Ferrari garage with a seven-time world champion’s arrival on the horizon.

HP have got ahead of the curve and will be providing Ferrari with plenty of products and services as part of the deal.

The official press release explains that: “Adaptive PCs and devices, conferencing technology, and printing capabilities, will enable Scuderia Ferrari HP to charge training precision and optimize strategic decision-making, on and off the track.”

Ferrari are unlikely to challenge for a Drivers’ or Constructors’ Championship this year despite being the next-fastest car behind Red Bull this year.

Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in place of the highly in-form Carlos Sainz could make a small difference, but every other team except Red Bull will be looking towards the major regulation changes in 2026 to try and topple Christian Horner’s outfit.

Knowing that two-thirds of their budget cap will be guaranteed by one sponsor gives the team even more financial stability going forward.
