£34m attacker shares Premier League dream amid claims Paratici wants him at Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur will have a number of attacking signings in mind for this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to shape his squad.

We have only seen two transfer windows under Postecoglou and the signs have been encouraging so far.

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison and Brennan Johnson have all shown why Tottenham signed them.

Tottenham also secured the signing of a top young defender in January as Radu Dragusin came in alongside loanee Timo Werner.

Werner was a somewhat surprising signing after his previous struggles with Chelsea but Tottenham handed him another Premier League chance.

The German has mostly played as a left winger so far and has caused problems whilst driving at defenders.

Werner’s finishing ability continues to frustrate though and Tottenham have plenty to think about given the £15million permanent option in his loan.

Tottenham may well want to keep Werner permanently and £15million isn’t a terrible price, but Tottenham would be wise to have alternatives in mind.

Albert Gudmundsson on Tottenham Hotspur radar

Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson is one of the players linked with Tottenham in recent months.

The Iceland international has been impressive this season, racking up 13 goals and three assists in 31 Serie A appearances.

Tottenham struck a deal with Genoa in January, landing defender Dragusin, and the two clubs will speak again this summer to discuss the future of loanee Djed Spence.

Gudmundsson could also be a point of discussion with the 26-year-old capable of playing up front, out wide or even as a number 10.

The 26-year-old is in the form of his life right now and we have even seen him being compared to Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

Rather unsurprisingly, reports indicate that Fabio Paratici is the man driving Tottenham’s interest in signing Gudmundsson for around £34million.

Paratici continues to advise Tottenham despite his official exit from the club and his knowledge of the Italian market has brought some quality signings to Spurs in the past.

Gudmundsson shares Premier League dream

Gudmundsson has now spoken to The Telegraph and has admitted his interest in a Premier League move.

The winger admitted that he wants to test himself at the very highest level, even though he is happy at Genoa and committed to their cause.

Gudmundsson wants to get to the summer and see what happens, adding that he would ‘definitely’ love to try playing in the Premier League.

“I really want to test myself at the highest level possible,” said Gudmundsson. “I feel good here and still under contract here at Genoa and want to finish the season and see what happens but obviously as a player and lover of football, I’ve dreamt of playing at the highest level. Always, that is my ambition.”

“Since I was a kid I always thought about playing in the Premier League, so obviously it is something I definitely want to try,” he added.

It sounds like Gudmundsson would be willing to make the move to Tottenham this summer if Spurs make the call.

A reunion with Dragusin could appeal to Gudmundsson too, with Tottenham possibly willing to offer up Spence in part-exchange for Iceland star.

Tottenham need to think carefully about this one though; Gudmundsson turns 27 this summer and this is only the second time that he has hit double figures in a league campaign.

Gudmundsson isn’t a young talent that Tottenham can develop over the coming years; at 27, he would be expected to contribute right away and it’s a big jump in terms of expectation levels from Genoa to Tottenham.

We fear that Gudmundsson would just another squad option rather than a player to really give Postecoglou’s starting XI a boost and would be reluctant to throw money at this move in the summer.
