'I do think...': Simon Jordan says he has one big concern for Arne Slot if he joins Liverpool

Liverpool look like they’re going to go for Feyenoord manager Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp as their new manager.

Reports have gathered pace all week about Slot and a move to Liverpool and the man himself confirmed the talks yesterday as well.

Indeed, it’s even been suggested Slot to Liverpool could be announced as soon as this weekend.

The Reds, led by FSG and Michael Edwards in the background, are looking to make the perfect appointment to replace the legendary Klopp.

In Slot, it seems they’ve settled on a manager famed for his exciting and intense style of football after missing out on Xabi Alonso and moving on from Ruben Amorim.

Of course, replacing a figurehead like Klopp is going to be the big test for Slot if he does arrive.

And speaking on TalkSPORT this morning, Simon Jordan has shared what he feels will be a big concern for Slot and some at Liverpool.

Arne Slot to Liverpool comes with Manchester United comparisons

We’ve seen big managers leave big clubs in the past and things can take time to heal.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the biggest example of all, while Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal departure also stung for a long time.

And speaking on TalkSPORT, Simon Jordan has suggested the same can be said for Slot joining the Reds.

“I do think he is taking on a very difficult job. It’s like following Alex Ferguson into Man United without the same level of achievement, I know, but the omni-potency of Ferguson over Manchester United, the culture of Manchester United, dragging that rather rag-tag and bobtail outfit of 2013 across the line to win the Premier League,” Jordan said.

What has Arne Slot done at Feyenoord?

While Arne Slot clearly wasn’t the number one choice for Liverpool here, it’s also clear he’s made their shortlist because of his work in Holland.

With Feyenoord, he has enjoyed huge success and dislodged the likes of Ajax and PSV at the top of the table to win the Eredivisie title two seasons back.

After that, he won the Dutch cup, while in his first season he led Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final, where he was beaten by Roma in what would be a sequence of losses against the Italian side.

This season, Feyenoord are on course to finish second to PSV but are a whopping 26 points clear of Ajax down in fifth.

Slot’s football has won plenty of plaudits as well though and he led them to their biggest ever win in Europe when they hammered Shakhtar 7-1.

Liverpool fans, then, can be excited about this appointment.
