'The big danger': Journalist shares the club Newcastle fans should be worried about with Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United fans are bracing themselves for a defining couple of months regarding Bruno Guimaraes’ future.

The 26-year-old is a man in demand this summer, with multiple European powerhouses sniffing around the Newcastle United midfielder’s £100million release clause.

Bruno Guimaraes is aware that he has admirers at Arsenal and Manchester City, who could battle it out to offer the Brazilian the chance to play in next season’s Champions League.

But they might need to make their move quickly, as there is only a tiny window in which Bruno’s release clause is active. It has been reported that teams can activate the £100million clause from the final week of May until the beginning of the last week in June, with Eddie Howe confirming that is the case.

The ‘danger’ Newcastle United must look for regarding Bruno Guimaraes

It means that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City need to decide soon whether they are serious about signing Bruno from Newcastle United.

But there is another club also in the conversation, and HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Paris Saint-Germain are the side that could be the real ‘danger’ to Bruno’s future at St James’ Park.

However, he is adamant that Newcastle United still haven no desire to sell the Brazil international.

“Newcastle know what they have with Bruno,” he said.

“He’s really coming into the peak of his powers at the moment. Arsenal and Man City do like him a lot, and if there was any inclination from Bruno’s camp or that Newcastle were willing to sell then they would be prepared to strike. From what I’m getting back from various different people at Newcastle, they’re not looking to sell either. They’re not encouraging it.

“My suspicion is that PSG could be the big danger. They like him a lot, but it might depend on where the season ends and whether or not Newcastle qualify for Europe.”

Talk of an £80m ‘agreement’ for Bruno Guimaraes is wide of the mark

Bailey believes that PSG could be the team that makes a move for Bruno, and they are the ones who have probably been the most heavily linked with signing him. There was even a story that they regretted not signing him when they had the chance before his move to Newcastle.

Now the Ligue 1 giants could have another opportunity to sign him, although they would have to make him one of their most expensive arrivals ever.

That is because of Bruno’s £100million release clause, although it has been suggested that there is an agreement that the midfielder can leave for a lower figure. However, Bailey has disputed this.

“This talk of a so-called agreement for £80million has been played down to me, but if someone comes in with £80-90million then there’s a conversation to be had. But I think their current will would be to resist.”

Who is more likely to leave Newcastle – Bruno or Alexander Isak

In a perfect world, Newcastle will not sell Bruno this summer. And hopefully the same goes for Alexander Isak, who is also attracting interest.

It was recently reported that out of the two of them, the Magpies are going to prioritise keeping Isak, but Bailey has suggested that he would rather keep Bruno if he was in charge.

“I don’t see them losing both. It’s tough, but if I had to pick one I would say Bruno is more likely to leave. And I think he would be harder to replace than Isak.”

Hopefully we don’t have to replace either of them, as both Bruno and Isak are vital to PIF’s project.
