Fruity new drink with popping boba pearls is coming to Sonic

Sonic is launching a brand new drink that draws inspiration from bubble tea, with popping tapioca pearls inside.

The new beverage comes as Starbucks is also due to release a line of bubble tea drinks too – so it’s a battle of the boba.

Sonic’s Orange Cloudsicle Slush Float

It’s called the Orange Cloudsicle Slush Float and combines soft serve with orange syrup and ice to make a drink that’s somewhere between a slush and a milkshake.

The whole thing is finished with Orange Cloudsicle Syrup, whipped cream and orange and vanilla-flavored popping boba balls.

Instagram foodie Markie Devo revealed the upcoming release on Instagram after getting the information from a Sonic employee.

It’s speculated to be launching sometime in May, but Sonic workers have been getting all the ingredients in ready this week.

Many are filming themselves making the boba drink on TikTok, topping an orange slushy base with ice cream.

The drink looks similar to the chain’s Orange Creme Slush which has launched before, but with the addition of boba.

Sonic first launched boba in 2021 with four different “Bursting Bubbles” drinks which proved to be really popular.

The range included two fruity beverages, Blue Burst and Cherry Burst, and the option to get both blended with ice to make a slush.

‘It’s a yes from me’

The upcoming release has got everyone’s taste buds tingling, and people can’t wait to try the fruity, creamy concoction.

One person said: “I want this NOW!! Sounds incredible.”

“It’s a yes from me,” wrote another.

A third added: “Oh this sounds pretty great.”

“Can’t wait!” someone else commented.

Three highly-anticipated boba refreshers are also due to arrive at Starbucks in the coming weeks which are bright blue and red in color.

There’s the Summer-Berry Refresher, Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and Summer Skies Drink Refresher, which all have tapioca pearls inside.

It’s all about boba this summer!
