Ange Postecoglou reveals one Tottenham player who’ll now start v Arsenal after what happened at Hotspur Way

Ange Postecoglou has already revealed that one Tottenham Hotspur player will start in the game against Arsenal on Sunday.

The last instalment of the North London Derby this season will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham will be up against it with the form book not offering much hope for Ange Postecoglou‘s side after their recent defeat to Newcastle United.

However, playing at home in the North London Derby is a fixture which has favoured Spurs over the last decade.

And there is a lot resting on this game for Spurs with their hopes of Champions League potentially gone with anything less than three points.

Going into the game on Sunday, Postecoglou has already offered some early team news during his press conference from Hotspur Way.

The Australian will have some big calls to make with some of his players struggling for form, but it is now clear one specific player has already been told he’ll be starting.

Ange Postecoglou reveals one player that will start against Arsenal on Sunday

This season has presented the 58-year-old with numerous injury issues which he has had to deal with in his first term at the helm.

And there have been some significant injury issues with the likes of Micky van de Ven and James Maddison both missing months.

That has seen players called upon who may not have usually been handed a spot in the starting XI.

And this Sunday is looking set to offer one player just that opportunity with Postecoglou being forced into making a change.

Last weekend, the club announced staring left-back Destiny Udogie would miss the remainder of the season after undergoing quadricep surgery.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Postecoglou has now confirmed that Ben Davies will be starting on Sunday against the Gunners. “Ben [Davies] will start,” he said.

“A disappointing one for Destiny and for ourselves as well, because he’s been a big part of our year. It was just an unfortunate incident in training,” Postecoglou added on Udogie.

“He’s had the operation, it’s gone well – so hopefully it gives him time to have pre-season and get back into it. So we’ll miss him.”

Ange Postecoglou admits two other players could return from injury

It really has been a season of injuries in north London for Spurs with Richarlison another player who has had to deal with numerous setbacks.

The Brazilian has now missed a lot of game time over the last month or so with his struggles to recover from a knee injury.

Adding to that, Pedro Porro was forced off against Newcastle with a suspected hamstring injury which did not make for good viewing from a Spurs perspective.

However, Postecoglou has now provided a positive update on the pair ahead of Sunday’s North London Derby.

“Pedro and Richy both trained all week so they’ll both be available,” he said.
