'Absolutely fantastic': Journalist hails one Sheffield Wednesday player after 3-0 win v West Brom

Sheffield Wednesday beat West Brom 3-0 in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield Wednesday went into an enormous games at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.

Owls fans helped to sell out their iconic stadium as they hoped to watch their team win for a second time in a row, and further pull themselves towards Championship safety.

Danny Rohl‘s side started the day in 21st place of the table following their 3-1 win at Blackburn Rovers last time out.

West Brom meanwhile started in 5th, needing a win to cement their place in the top six after back-to-back defeats.

As many had expected, Sheffield Wednesday started on the front foot.

It was they who seemed like the team chasing top six this season, and they got themselves in front after 22 minutes with Anthony Musaba scoring his seventh goal of the season.

The Owls kept their nerve until half-time and soon after the break they doubled their lead.

Ike Ugbo scored his first goal in almost two months after some good work by Musaba; Ugbo has now scored seven in the Championship for Sheffield Wednesday.

And the game was handed to the Owls when Josh Windass latched on a loose ball inside the box, slotting home from close range to seal a monumental 3-0 win.

Musaba was arguably the star of the show.

In what is his first season in England, Musaba now has 12 goal contributions (seven goals and five assists), and his goals have helped the Owls claim huge wins against the likes of Stoke City and QPR.

Without his goals and assists this season, Wednesday would be down and out already.

He took his goal well against West Brom and gave a bursting run to help Ugbo get in position to smash home the second.

And the Dutchman also played his role in the third, carrying the ball into the box before it eventually fell to Josh Windass who finished from close range.

Journalist Joe Crann was quick to praise Musaba after that third goal, posting on X:

Sheffield Wednesday may have this hope for Anthony Musaba

Musaba has certainly enjoyed a strong debut season.

Although he’s had patches of inconsistent form, his goals and assists speak for themselves.

He’s been a huge player for the Owls, popping up with some huge goals which now have Sheffield Wednesday on the brink of achieving one of the greatest escapes in Championship history.

Going into next season, not only will Wednesday now have a Musaba with a season of experience under his belt, they’ll also have a young player who’s becoming a valuable asset.

Musaba is only 23 years old and someone with his goals record, in the Championship, could fetch a few million pounds with ease.

If he can have another standout season next year then Sheffield Wednesday could well be entertaining interest in the Dutchman, who could eventually fetch the club a massive profit.

Sheffield Wednesday now sit in 20th place of the Championship table after Plymouth Argyle lost on Saturday, and Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town drew 1-1.

The Owls are on 50 points, Plymouth on 48, Birmingham City on 47, and Huddersfield Town on 48 ahead of the final day of the season next weekend.
