'I just saw'...Owen Hargreaves takes not of what Erik ten Hag did after Manchester United v Burnley

Manchester United continued to limp through the season as they drew with Burnley this afternoon with another dismal showing.

The Red Devils had looked like they might have won it when Antony scored late on but Burnley clung in the game and score from the spot to rescue a point.

For Erik ten Hag, it was yet another poor showing in front of the Old Trafford crowd.

And with pressure building week by week on the Dutchman, it seems like the next few weeks are going to be really telling for both his and the club’s future.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has a decision to make and with rumours around Thomas Tuchel and Thiago Motta, Ten Hag could soon find himself out of work.

Nevertheless, he remains the man for now and after drawing with Burnley today, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves noted what Ten Hag did.

Commenting for Premier League Productions, Hargreaves spotted Ten Hag trying to show the crowd some love after another difficult day.

“I just saw ten Hag walk off clapping the United fans. They’ve been so amazing still clapping and supporting the team after some of the performances this season. They’ve been so open to play against. Burnley came to Old Trafford to play, they were exceptional, United are way too open,” Hargreaves said.

Erik ten Hag simply has to clap, he’s nothing else left

It’s not a ground-breaking observation from Hargreaves this but it is something that needs raising.

Manchester United have been poor all season and as he mentions here, their loyal fanbase has stuck with them and continually supported and backed them.

Today, they’d have every right to boo their team but no, they again supported and clapped the manager and team off – in the main.

Ten Hag, then, can do nothing else but show them some appreciation. If he loses the Old Trafford crowd, then he loses his job. It’s as simple as that.

But niceties aside, Ten Hag has to win some games between now and the end of the season or he’s going to be gone regardless.
