Alabama transfer forward Nick Pringle has committed to South Carolina, he announced via Instagram on Saturday night. A nice addition for head coach Lamont Paris who will be adding a player with plenty of experience in the SEC.

Pringle is a native of South Carolina, attending Whale Branch High School in Seabrook. The Gamecocks will be the fourth school of his college career, though. Alabama signed him from Dodge City Community College after Pringle began his career at Wofford.

In 34 games with Alabama last season, Pringle averaged 6.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. There were some rocky moments throughout the season, with Nate Oats suspending Pringle at various times. Not for anything in particular but Oats wanted Pringle to buy in a little more.

“He’s got to decide whether he wants to be part of this program or not with some of his decisions, how he conducts himself,” Oats said following a win against Georgia. “Nothing bad off the court or anything like that. It’s just in practice, in games. We’ll see where he goes. We’ll meet when I get back.”

The message from Oats wound up working and Pringle became one of the most important pieces in the run to the Final Four. A heel injury was another problem Pringle dealt with but he played through the pain to help Alabama out.

Clemson was the Elite Eight matchup and heading in, Pringle was questionable. Alabama is thankful he wound up playing as a double-double performance ensued. Pringle put up 16 points and 11 rebounds in 32 minutes to send the Crimson Tide to its first-ever Final Four. A performance not many in Tuscaloosa will forget for a while.
