Report: Crystal Palace eyeing up move for "very talented" defender who's quicker than Michael Olise

This summer, a new star centre-back looks likely to arrive at Crystal Palace, and now reports have suggested who this could be.

For Oliver Glasner, centre-half will be a priority this summer as his three-at-the-back formation has left options stretched thin.

Crystal Palace there as expected, have already been linked with making a move for countless defenders.

This need will only grow should Marc Guehi be sold, something which looks increasingly likely amid reports by The Telegraph that he won’t sign a new contract.

So with this in mind, Palace have now been linked with what would be the perfect defender for Glasner’s side.

Crystal Palace eyeing move for Maxence Lacroix this summer

As Guehi looks more and more likely to depart this summer, it makes sense to see potential replacements linked to Selhurst Park.

Now, according to The Telegraph, Palace are eyeing up what could be an incredible signing this summer.

That is French and Wolfsburg defender, Maxence Lacroix who is a very exciting centre-back.

At 24, Lacroix would be almost a like-for-like swap, and could potentially be an upgrade on Guehi if he adapts as expected.

Lacroix possesses one standout quality too, which is his speed. He’s so quick that it’d make Glasner’s high line impossible to get in behind.

Just how quick is Lacroix?

Signing Lacroix would be an incredible coup for Palace as he’s an immense quality who’d make selling Guehi as less a blow as possible.

For the French defender, one of his biggest qualities is undoubtedly his pace as he’s absolutely rapid for a central defender with a top speed of 21.44 miles per hour as per SpeedsDB.

This has Lacroix even quicker than Michael Olise who was the club’s third-quickest player last season at 20.63 miles per hour, as per the Premier League.

He’s also significantly quicker than the defender he’d be replacing in Guehi who runs at 17.27 miles per hour.

The “very talented” player as his Wolfsburg teammate Koen Casteels labelled him is probably the best option we’ve seen linked to Palace this summer.
