‘We will never forget’: Andy Burnham threatens further action to Premier League as Everton avoid relegation

Everton have finally secured survival this season, no thanks to the Premier League.

It has been a season rife with injustice and unrest for the Toffees, and the manner in which Sean Dyche has navigated such turmoil has been exemplary.

A barren four-month winless spell did draw some scrutiny, but in the end, he is by far the best option that the club could possibly hope for when embroiled in such dire circumstances.

That being said, such injustice cannot go unpunished, yet the average Evertonian holds little power in the battle against a juggernaut like the Premier League.

Fortunately, there remains a few high-profile names who can fight their corner, with Andy Burnham one such example.

Andy Burnham threatens Premier League

The Mayor of Greater Manchester, and boyhood blue, has been one of the club’s most staunch defenders across this long and arduous campaign.

He has lobbied for appeals, poked holes in the Premier League’s logic, and made a mockery of the system that has stolen eight points from the Toffees this season.

Without him, the club would be in a far weaker position to challenge these various accusations, and they owe him a huge debt of gratitude for his unrelenting efforts on the matter.

However, despite having achieved safety, he seems far from finished in his crusade against the division, as he has written on X: ‘It’s great @Everton are safe. BUT We will never forget how the @premierleague tried to sacrifice one of England’s oldest and greatest clubs.

‘I will have more to say on this soon’.

Everton cannot let this season’s injustice lie

Burnham is right to continue pushing their narrative, as what has happened this season cannot be allowed to fly.

It has been an injustice of astronomical proportions, and is not solely linked to PSR either.

After all, the Premier League have also had a hand in 777 Partners’ ongoing takeover, having dragged out that process for nearly eight months now.

Such unrest across that period has only added to the uncertainty bred at Everton, further reinforced by deductions and appeals.

It has been a truly shambolic season for the division, who have arguably never looked weaker as they still seek to ward off the introduction of an independent regulator.

Hopefully, their pathetic treatment of Everton both regarding these deductions and the takeover debacle, can help derail Richard Masters’ plans and see him and his organisation face justice for their mistreatment.
