Tony Docherty shares what he really thinks about Celtic and Brendan Rodgers ahead of Dundee game

Celtic’s defence of the Scottish Premiership crown enters its final stages of the season as the post-split fixtures kick off this afternoon.

With Celtic heading to Dundee and Rangers to St Mirren, there is a lot riding on these games for all clubs with the obvious title race taking precedence.

But outside that race, both Stephen Robinson and Tony Docherty are both looking to take their clubs into Europe next season and they will be doing their utmost to take something from Celtic and Rangers to help bolster those chances.

And ahead of today’s game against Brendan Rodgers‘ team, Dundee manager Tony Docherty has shared what he thinks about the Hoops gaffer and Celtic prior to the 3pm kick-off.

Tony Docherty praises ‘difficult’ Celtic

The Dundee manager has worked miracles with the Dens Park team this season. Promoted from the Scottish Championship, many tipped the Tayside club to be in a relegation battle.

But with the top-six confirmed and Europe a possibility, Docherty has shared his motivation for beating Celtic and what he thinks of the club and Rodgers ahead of the game today.

Docherty said [The Courier], “Sunday will be difficult as Celtic are going for a title as we all know, but we have huge motivation as well.

“I am looking forward to a really exciting game and we will be planning accordingly.

“Celtic were pushed all the way by Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup but they showed the character and mindset to get the job done. That is the mark of a good team.

“We all know the job Brendan Rodgers has done with Celtic.

“He is a top manager and we will have to be at our best but we also go in confident after making the top six and getting a good result against Rangers last time out.”

The last time Celtic faced Dundee we ran out emphatic 7-1 winners. In a game that started off nervy, Rodgers saw his team record the biggest win of the season after seven goals from seven different scorers reduced the gap at the top of the table to two points.

Now three points clear, Celtic will be hoping to extend that lead with a crucial away win if Rangers drop points in Paisley.
