Pep Guardiola shares what Nottingham Forest did really well against Manchester City

Nottingham Forest went down 2-0 to Manchester City but one aspect of their performance has drawn praise from Pep Guardiola.

The Citizens won thanks to goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland, withForest missing a host of chances.

Chris Wood was criticised by Paul Merson for his efforts in front of goal and hopefully, he can bounce back and start scoring again.

The Reds go to Sheffield United next up and it really is a game that Forest have to win to stand any chance of survival.

After the game, Guardiola admitted that he was really impressed by one aspect of Forest and he paid the team some compliments.

What Pep Guardiola said about Nottingham Forest

Well, the Spanish head coach was in the mood to speak kindly about Forest after his team won 2-0 at the City Ground.

Forest dug deep and on another afternoon, they might have actually defeated Manchester City.

The chances missed by Wood will perhaps cause him sleepless nights and he will be keen to move on quickly from the performance.

Guardiola was quick to praise Forest for the way in which they imposed themselves on the game.

He told thePremier League: “It was a difficult game. They played with bravery, with incredibly fast players.

“We found a goal the moment it was 10 v 11.

“We had a lot of games behind us, but now we have a long week to recover.”

Forest need points not praise – but there are positive signs

Had Forest not had four points deducted earlier in the season, there is a strong possibility that the team would be already planning for next season.

However, the team can’t do that just yet and with three games remaining, things remain in the balance.

Guardiola’s praise is nice but right now, it’s points that are badly needed from a Forest perspective.

Still, this was a positive performance and in fairness, it was probably a better afternoon than most fans had anticipated.

City are a relentless machine under Guardiola but Forest didn’t look overawed and played to their strengths during the contest.

It was nice to hear Guardiola sing the praises of Forest after the game but points would have been better this afternoon.
