'I think': Ally McCoist shares what he thinks Nottingham Forest have got badly wrong

Ally McCoist has delivered his verdict on the decision made by Nottingham Forest to ask the PGMOL to provide the audio recording of the officials on Sunday.

Everton beat Forest 2-0 at Goodison Park but the game was marred by three penalty appeals that the Reds felt aggrieved to have missed out on.

Forest released a statement after the game questioning the appointment of Stuart Attwell given that he’s a Luton Town fan.

Alan Shearer questioned the post and criticised Forest, with the club releasing a more professional statement the day after.

Now, McCoist has weighed in after it was announced that Forest have asked the PGMOL to provide details of the voice recording between the officials.

Ally McCoist delivers verdict on Nottingham Forest request

Well, it’s rare that McCoist gets much wrong when it comes to offering his opinion – and he has paid Forest some compliments in the past.

However, with this one he seems to think that Forest are wanting to pick their match officials and nobody is actually saying that.

He’s now delivered his verdict on the situation and he believe that Forest have got this one all wrong.

He told TalkSPORT: “I will accept it might not have been the smartest appointment but once it’s made, you have to get on with it.

“Once you change it, you open a can of worms, you know what football fans and teams are like.

“The best result for Luton would have been a draw so it would have been in Luton’s best interests had Forest have got a penalty.

“I think there’s a fair chance that he agrees that he gets the ball – even though he’s wrong.

“It’s incompetent but not corrupt.”

PGMOL let down Stuart Attwell

It’s absolutely laughable that a man as astute as Howard Webb couldn’t see the issue with Attwell being on VAR.

Nobody for a single minute is suggesting that Attwell blatantly cheated but he shouldn’t have been put in this situation.

The VAR decisions were nothing short of ridiculous at the weekend and both Attwell and Anthony Taylor let Forest down.

McCoist is right to a certain degree to suggest that this situation involving Forest could open a can of worms.

However, if Forest felt it necessary to mention that fact that Attwell supports Luton to the PGMOL then perhaps Webb was very naive not to react.
