'What a player': Giovani Lo Celso amazed with one Tottenham teammate despite Arsenal defeat

Giovani Lo Celso has lauded one of his Tottenham Hotspur teammates despite yesterday’s North London Derby defeat.

Tottenham fell to a 3-2 defeat to Arsenal yesterday after a difficult opening 45 minutes in the derby.

Ange Postecoglou’s men found themselves 3-0 down at the break after dominating for large periods of the first half.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal handed the Gunners an early lead before two set-pieces proved to be Spurs’ Achilles heel once again.

Micky van de Ven thought he had levelled the game up just two minutes before Bukayo Saka’s effort. But the Dutchman’s goal was ruled out by the VAR due to an offside.

Spurs battled back in the second half as Cristian Romero grabbed one back just after the hour mark following a mistake from David Raya.

Heung-min Son set up a dramatic final 10 minutes of the game by beating Raya from the spot after a late challenge from Declan Rice on Ben Davies.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, they left it too late in the end. But their vice-captain Romero certainly caught the eye on the day.

Lo Celso lauds Cristian Romero after Tottenham vs Arsenal

Romero took to Instagram following yesterday’s derby defeat and sent a message to Tottenham supporters.

“Head up and carry on, this is what it’s all about sometimes. I am more than ever with this team,” he wrote.

“We will work and finish this season in the best way. Thank you for always being fans all together.”

It led to praise from Lo Celso beneath the post, who wrote: “What a player!! Warrior.”

Romero was undoubtedly Tottenham’s standout player yesterday and the Argentine could have had more than one goal on the day.

The 25-year-old went close on three occasions before netting in the 64th minute while also rattling the woodwork in the first half.

As for Lo Celso, the 28-year-old got a couple of minutes under his belt after replacing Davies with Spurs chasing the game.
