Video: Brilliant brace prompts improved bid for electric star Steidten flew to sign

Video shows a brilliant brace which has reportedly prompted an improved West Ham bid for an electric star Tim Steidten flew to sign.

West Ham have a big rebuild on their hands this summer and technical director Tim Steidten is on the case.

He needs to be as well with West Ham’s squad already the joint smallest in the league, three players short at 22.

Six current Hammers players are out of contract this summer. And the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet – to name but three – are also expected to be moved on.

It means West Ham will require as many as 10-12 or more new players in the summer transfer window.

With a new manager search also underway, this will be Steidten’s biggest test yet.

Based on what he did at Bayer Leverkusen, though, he’s the right man for the job.

The German already has the wheels in motion on summer arrivals and targets.

Steidten puts West Ham’s summer plans in motion

It was revealed by Claret and Hugh a couple of weeks ago that Steidten had flown to Brazil on a mission to scout players.

While there, he attended four matches as he bids to find some transfer gems for whoever is managing West Ham next season.

Last week a journalist made an exciting claim about the result of that Brazil trip.

That being a bid for brilliant young Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova.

The Brazilians reportedly rebuffed the Hammers’ opening £13m offer, according to Jorge Nicola.

There were then doubts among some West Ham fans about Gassova’s quality after outspoken former Brazil international turned pundit Neto mocked Corinthians for failing to take the money for a player with ‘no end product’.

“I will personally take him to West Ham,” Neto said.

“I wouldn’t just sell him, I’d take him on a donkey and at the airport I’d upgrade him to first class and take him to West Ham.”

Brilliant brace prompts improved bid for Wesley

There has been a development after Wesley showed plenty of end product in Corinthians’ 3-0 win over Fluminense on Sunday.

Video shows a brilliant brace which has reportedly prompted an improved West Ham bid for the electric star Steidten flew to sign.

Wesley scored two unbelievable goals – which you can see in the post below – in the victory which showed what he’s capable of.

The first he picks the ball up 35 yards out, beats a defender and smashes the ball home from outside the box.

Then for the second is shades of prime Neymar as he runs 40 yards with the ball, beats two men with brilliant dummies, jinks into the box and finishes into the bottom corner.

ESPN: Hammers increase offer to £15m

The brace has certainly caught West Ham’s attention – and made Neto look a bit silly.

Because according to ESPN in Brazil, the Hammers have now returned with a new offer for the 19-year-old.

The report states West Ham have increased their bid to £15m and that the deal is being brokered by former defender Naldo, currently part of the N29 football agency.

Corinthians are said to be mulling the new offer with the club’s top brass being pressured to accept it.

The report claims there are expected to be developments “in the next few hours or days”.

As West Ham fans know, what Steidten wants, more often than not, he gets.

You can see more from Gassova – dubbed ‘the future of Brazil’ – in the video below.
