Handful of Three Counties Running Club members take on London Marathon

Three Counties Running Club were lucky enough to have eight members running in the London Marathon.

Simon Killen, Gary Ingrey, Kim Coultard and Keith White all managed to gain places through the ballot while Vicki Newton was chosen for the allocated club place.

Charity places were given to Lauren Day, running for Whizz Kids, Sally Fawkes, for the British Heart Foundation, and Sarah-Jane Macdonald, for the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Simon Killen was the first runner home for the club in 2:52:57 (PB) but also achieved a Guinness World Record for being the fastest marathon runner dressed as a video game character.

Killen, or Super Mario, did himself and the club proud.

Next home for the club and both running fantastic PB’s were Lauren and Vicki crossing the line together in a fantastic time of 3:54:25.

Ingrey finished his first marathon in a fabulous PB of 4:46:46, Coultard was next in 5:13:54 (CPB) followed by Macdonald in 5:19:22 (CPB).

White finished in a great time of 5:44:39 and Fawkes clocked 6:09:49 (PB).

In the Virtual London Marathon, David Hammond ran locally with the support of others to finish in a time of 5:43:34.

Lou Mayer and Jayne Spurrier decided to do something slightly different. They both decided to walk the 26.2 miles from Wells-next-to-Sea to Hunstanton along the coastal path finishing in a time of 9:08:14.

This weekend saw club member Melvin Green take part in his 200th parkrun.

First home in 10th position out of 386 runners was Rickie Trundle in 19:01 (PB), Jonny Clark 21:53, James Hall 22:08 (PB), Viaceslav Goncarenko 22:44 (PB), Sarah Johnson 22:51 (PB, first in age), Dan High 23:26 (PB), Claire Smithee 24:47 (second in age), Naomi Smith 25:48 (first in age), Sarah Melton-Whitelam 26:14, Melvin Green 27:52 (CPB), Phil Newton 27:59, Vicki Newton 28:00, Laura Vincent 28:38 (PB), Donna Johnson 28:39, Steve Whitelam 30:31, Rachael Elliot 31:32 (PB), Jodie Clark 32:16, Joely Apps 32:25, Imogen Agger 33:01, Steve Clarke 34:16, AJ Harris 34:42, Tracy Pratt 40:11, Debbie Agger and Sarah-Jane Macdonald 40:12.

Jacqueline McGonigle took part in the Ballymoney Triathlon, hosted by Riada Triathlon, consisting of a 250m pool swim, 15k cycle and 3k run.

McGonigle had a great time, finishing well and bagging a well-deserved medal at the finish line.
